Hungary is a country full of history and historical monuments and landmarks so any visit to the country wouldn't be complete without visiting the multitude of important landmarks you will find in Budapest, the capital, a must-see for any visitor to Hungary.
Budapest is a city with an impressive heritage, notable for its Castle District, a unique and historic enclave, and a part of the city where you can visit landmarks such as the Royal Castle of Buda, San Iglasia Matias de Buda, the Museum of Military History, or the Art Gallery.
Furthermore, we can also find the Parliament Building in Budapest, with more than one century of history as one of the most impressive landmarks in the country, or the Basilica of St. Stephen, the National Museum and the Heroes Square. In Budapest we also highlight its numerous medicinal water spas, that give the capital its denomination as a spa town.
If we go to the city of Miskolc, a superb historical holiday destination in the north-east of the country, Diósgyőr Castle and the historic centre of the town are both must sees. In Pécs for example, you can view Ottoman art that has survived in the region, the Cathedral and the Mosque which are two of the most interesting places in the city, not to mention the Museum of Archaeology. Nor can we forget the city of Gyor, and its monuments, church, historic centre and its castle.
In Békéscsaba you can visit landmarks like the Baroque church, built in the eighteenth century, the classical Church, the City Hall, or the theatre.
Finally, with regard to the Monuments of Hungary, we must mention the city of Eger, close to Budapest Békéscsaba and which forms the final part of the triangle of cities in Hungary ideal for enjoying the cultural tourism. Visit a wide variety of churches, cathedrals and historic sites or museums. In Eger you will find some stunning baroque churches, with more than a dozen dotted around the town, Eger Castle, the Cathedral Basilica, the Turkish Minaret dating from the seventeenth century, Turkish baths, the Rector's Palace and the Archbishop's Palace.
Cultural tourism is one of the most important activities in Hungary, and one of its greatest attractions, with hundreds of thousands of annual visitors who visit cities like Budapest, Eger, Bekescsaba, Gyor and Pecs.
